Xubuntu is an official Ubuntu flavor that features the Xfce desktop environment. It combines the stability of Ubuntu with the lightweight and efficient Xfce desktop. Xubuntu is suitable for users who prefer a fast and responsive system with a traditional desktop experience on an Ubuntu base. The first official Xubuntu release, led by Jani Monoses, appeared on 1 June 2006, as part of the Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper Drake line, which also included Kubuntu and Edubuntu.
